Cultural Concert Series

Enjoy a lively celebration of global rhythms at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo’s Cultural Concert Series, featuring an exciting lineup of eclectic and culturally diverse music from the Cleveland community. Held on select Mondays throughout July and August. From strings to drums to nature beats, each performance highlights the richness of different cultures. Zoo admission is required.

About the Performers:

CLE Concierto (Monday, July 14, 2025): Celebrate the beauty and power of nature through music from Europe, Africa, and South America. The program features Vivaldi’s vibrant L’Estate (Summer) from The Four Seasons, the dramatic soundscape of Jean-Féry Rebel’s Les Élémens, and the newly rediscovered La tempestad del mar by Davide Perez. The concert also includes traditional Senegalese folksongs and drumming, bringing rich rhythmic traditions into dialogue with Baroque masterpieces. 

Sammy de León y su Orquesta (Monday, July 21, 2025): Regarded as one of the most renowned leaders and percussionists of our time, Sammy De León has transcended a career with genre, style and class, reveled in rich influences, from the 70s to the present. De León has fronted his own band, Sammy de León y su Orquesta, for 30 years, becoming a staple of the music scene gaining popularity for his irresistible, danceable groove-oriented Salsa & Latin Jazz. 

Amani Strings (Monday, August 4, 2025): Amani Strings was founded in 2023 by Carolina Borja and Ismail Douglas. They use the cello, guitar, cura, Afro-Colombian traditional voice, Kora and Berimbau (both African instruments), to produce a unique musical blend of soothing and rhythmic sounds. The focus of their music is to create a meditative, relaxing and joyous atmosphere for the audience. Through the transformative power of music, we want to intentionally take the listener on a magical and exciting journey.

Latin Jazz Players (Monday, August 11, 2025): LJP (Latin Jazz Players) is from Lorain, OH, the band started back in 2009 playing smooth Latin jazz music from musician like Peter White, Marc Antoine, Jeff Lorber, Carlos Santana and many others. LJP got together at church and played together for many years. Now LJP is performing in many festivals around the area and now have their music being played all over the world on internet radio! LJP music will give you the sensation of being in a Caribbean island, dancing your heart away or just sitting on a beach! With the combination of an acoustic & electric guitar, LJP music gives you a smooth jazz effect with a little of Latin favor in it.
