Wildlife Management

From September 26, 2026 through February 7, 2027, select areas within Brecksville, Hinckley, South Chagrin, and Mill Stream Run reservations will experience wildlife management in areas that do not contain trails, roadways, or other public access. Please respect park rules and regulations and remain on designated trails and roadways.


Current list of Cleveland Metroparks' location-specific closures and restrictions:

Bedford Reservation

  • Beginning June 22, 2026 - Hemlock Picnic Area will be open Monday through Thursday and closed Friday through Sunday. The picnic area will be open to Outdoor Education Programs and Participants ONLY, Friday through Sunday.

Big Creek Reservation

  • Beginning September 23, 2026 - Valley Parkway to Bagley on Big Creek Parkway will have intermittent closures for roadway paving. Expected to be be finished by October 2, 2026.

Brecksville Reservation

  • August 12, 2026 - North Bridle Loop behind Meadows Picnic Area (the section that follows the wood line behind the rear part of Meadows PA) will be closed for trail work. Detour directions: When you exit the woods from either direction, take the mowed path away from the trail and cross through the rear field in Meadows Picnic Area to the trail on the other side. Expected to be finished by September 18, 2026.
  • September 23-28, 2026 - Meadows Picnic Area will be closed for FallFest Day.

Euclid Creek Reservation

  • Beginning July 20, 2026 - Upper Highland Picnic Area will be closed for the Old Highland bridge replacement project. Expected to reopen July 2027.

Lakefront Reservation

  • Ongoing - Beginning July 7, 2026 - Mandel Community Trail between E. 55th and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will have intermittent full or partial trail closures and disruptions during construction of Mandel Community Trail improvements between E. 55th Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. The expected reopening date is September 7, 2026.
  • Beginning March 26, 2026 - Gordon Park - South will be closed for construction. Expected to reopen in Summer 2027.

Mill Stream Run Reservation

  • Beginning September 14, 2026 - Valley Parkway from Handle Road to Royalton Road (RT82) will be closed for paving culvert areas. Expected reopening September 16, 2026.

North Chagrin Reservation

  • September 15, 2026 - NC2 Bridle Trail between River Grove Picnic Area & Squires Castle will be closed for trail work. Expected to reopen by October 2, 2026. Detour directions: Hikers can utilize the Castle Valley trail during the closure. Horseback riders will need to utilize alternative bridle trails.
  • September 22-23, 2026 - Wilson Mills Trailhead will be closed until 3:30pm for forestry work.
  • Beginning September 26, 2026 - Squire's Castle Area will be closed to vehicles from 6 a.m., Saturday, September 26 - 11 a.m., Sunday, September 27 for the annual Squire's Castle Family Campout. Cleveland Metroparks will be utilizing the parking lot, pavilion, ballfield, and castle yard for this event.

Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

  • Lights are out at along the Towpath Trail from Holmden Avenue to Canal Basin Park.

Rocky River Reservation

  • The hill within Little Met Golf Course does not contain sanctioned trails and is therefore off limits to public access. 

South Chagrin Reservation

  • Beginning November 3, 2025 - Hawthorn Parkway between Harper and Cannon Road will be closed for bridge maintenance. Expected reopening is October 6, 2026.

Washington Reservation

  • Beginning October 15, 2024 – The Arborview Picnic Shelter will have limited parking and access to picnic shelter, playground facility and general ground for a Northeast Ohio Sewer District Construction project. Expected completion is August 31, 2028.
