This process will include a number of opportunities for community input and guidance, starting with the Euclid Creek Lakefront Open House on Thursday, October 29th at 5:30 - 7:00pm at the Collinwood Rec Center. A short presentation will take place at 6pm, with opportunities the rest of the evening to share your thoughts with park staff. In the meantime, if you have questions or comments related to the park or project, please fill out the 'Planning & Design Comment Form' at the bottom of this page.
This project encompasses the lakefront portion of Euclid Creek Reservation (Euclid Creek Lakefront), which includes Euclid Beach, Villa Angela, and Wildwood parks, as well as the newly acquired property formerly home to the Euclid Beach Mobile Home Park. Euclid Creek Lakefront is located directly on the shore of Lake Erie in the city of Cleveland’s North Collinwood neighborhood. Cleveland Metroparks assumed management and maintenance of the park from the state of Ohio in 2013 and celebrated 10 years of stewardship of this lakefront park in June 2023. The ± 28.8 acre former Euclid Beach Mobile Home park transferred to Cleveland Metroparks ownership in 2025.
Cleveland Metroparks staff with expertise in park operations and management, natural resources, educational and recreational programs, safety and security, and planning and design guide development of the reservation plans. Experience reflects 13 years of operating the existing park, including two previous reservation plans, as well as participation in community planning for multiple initiatives including Euclid Beach Connector Trail, Euclid Creek Greenway, and the land use plan for the former Euclid Beach Mobile Home Community.
Euclid Creek Lakefront will undergo a more detailed design process to refine the reservation plan into a schematic design for the newly expanded park which now includes land formerly occupied by the Euclid Beach Mobile Home Community. Cleveland Metroparks engaged a consultant team for the design process, which will include guidance from a stakeholder group and three community open houses. The process will also identify priorities for park improvements. The schematic design for Euclid Creek Lakefront will be completed by late Spring 2027.
The plan will include elements related to an agreement between Cleveland Metroparks and Cleveland Public Library to study the relocation of the Memorial-Nottingham branch. The existing library building is a repurposed former high school, and its aging structure is expensive to operate and does not meet current needs. The library plans to remove the building and will lead a design team for a new structure. The existing library site may be incorporated into Euclid Creek Lakefront, resulting in continuous park frontage along Lakeshore Boulevard between Euclid Creek and Euclid Beach.
