The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Teen Advisory Council (TAC) Volunteer Program gives youth the opportunity to provide counsel and support to the organization. Teens will assist in the development of a variety of projects and community initiatives. The program will give youth from diverse backgrounds meaningful leadership experiences and an opportunity to give a voice to the youth perspective on programming aimed at their peer group. TAC is comprised of up to 30 environmentally and conservation-minded youths living in northeast Ohio between the ages of 16-18.

Membership Responsibilities and Requirements

As a member of TAC, you will be expected to uphold the following commitments:

  • Be between the ages of 16-18. Please note: Applicants must be at least 16 years old and no older than 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Attend mandatory quarterly meetings on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 

Meetings are scheduled for: September 2025, December 2025, March 2026, June 2026. Specific dates will be made available as we get closer to the start date. 

  1. There will be opportunity for other optional fun Zoo activities between quarterly meetings. 
  2. Research and identify needs, assets, and interests in your community.
  3. Serve as an ambassador of Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
  4. Complete meeting prep activities and submit in a timely manner.
  5. Frequently check for communications from TAC coordinators and participate as necessary.
  6. Advise the Education and Engagement division on program development.

Applications and Reference Forms are due by Monday, September 1st, 2025.

One reference form is required. The reference form can be from a science teacher or from an adult that knows you well but is not a family member.
