Career Exploration for Schools & Groups

The Youth Outdoors Fellowship Program also offers 60-minute program sessions designed for groups of individuals ages 14 to 18 who are interested in discovering career pathways in parks and recreation.   

All sessions are free of charge for Cuyahoga County locations. Programs can also be held at a Cleveland Metroparks location.

  • Give your students an introduction to the Youth Outdoors Fellowship Program. Participants will learn how the program works, the opportunities it offers, and how to apply. Ideal for classrooms, youth groups, and school-based programs seeking engaging career and leadership exploration for their students.

  • These practical sessions give students hands-on experience with resume building, interview skills, networking, and exploring post-secondary pathways. The workshops are designed to be interactive and engaging for classrooms, youth groups, and out-of-school-time audiences. The program can be adapted to meet the unique needs of your classroom or youth group.

  • This interactive and practical workshop equips students with essential life skills for success. Participants learn how to set realistic, achievable goals, manage their time effectively, and stay motivated. Activities include creating vision boards and goal charts, breaking goals into manageable steps, prioritizing tasks, time-blocking exercises, and reflection exercises to track progress. The session also covers strategies for balancing school, work, and extracurricular activities. The program can be adapted to meet the unique needs of your classroom or youth group.

  • These interactive workshops help students develop essential collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills. Participants engage in hands-on activities such as team challenges, group problem-solving tasks, role-playing scenarios, and cooperative games that encourage active listening, negotiation, and creative thinking. The workshops also provide opportunities for reflection on group dynamics, leadership roles, and effective teamwork strategies. The program can be adapted to meet the unique needs of your classroom or youth group. 

  • This hands-on workshop introduces students to key money management skills, including budgeting, saving, understanding credit, and making smart financial decisions. Activities include creating a monthly budget, setting savings goals, a “needs vs. wants" sorting game, a credit card simulation to show how debt and interest build, and comparison-shopping challenges. Students will discuss credit scores, responsible borrowing, and strategies for avoiding common money pitfalls. The program can be adapted to fit the unique needs and age level of your classroom or youth group.
