Youth Outdoors logoCleveland Metroparks Youth Outdoors strives to meet the developmental needs of youth living in or near the City of Cleveland through involvement in outdoor adventure and nature exploration activities.

By experiencing the wonder of nature and developing skills in outdoor recreation, young people, age 8 - 18, gain a life-long appreciation and understanding of the importance of parks and nature. They also learn valuable life skills in making decisions, developing interests, communicating thoughts and feelings, making healthy lifestyle choices, and fulfilling responsibilities to others in their group and community.

Youth participate in Cleveland Metroparks Youth Outdoors program through groups based in or near the City of Cleveland. These include City of Cleveland Recreation Centers, faith-based organizations, and other youth-serving organizations.

Through Youth Outdoors, Young People and Nature Connect

Our goal is to provide monthly outings and activities designed to meet the abilities of each participating youth group. Core activities include hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, camping, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, team building activities, nature exploration, service projects and more. All activities build a connection to the outdoors and the natural world around us. Youth Outdoors programs meet all current safety guidelines.

To Get a Young Person Involved

A child or teen can join Youth Outdoors through one of our participating organizations. Please contact Youth Outdoors to find the program nearest you.

To Get a Youth Group Involved

Youth Outdoors staff work directly with youth-serving organizations to develop on-going programming that best suit the organization's and youth’s needs. Please contact Youth Outdoors for more information.

    Volunteers

With the support of Youth Outdoors staff, volunteer assistants help provide hands-on outdoor experiences for youth. We are always grateful for those individuals who are able to commit to helping our young adventurers learn new skills, discover nature and better themselves.
