George McNulty’s family and friends came together to honor his memory through a special fundraiser, which made it possible to dedicate his Legacy Tree at Edgewater Park. This collective effort reflects the deep love and admiration for George, and the family is honored to have this lasting tribute in this special place.

With the outpouring of support from friends and family, they not only reached their goal for the tree but exceeded it. The remaining funds were contributed to Cleveland Metroparks new Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center—fitting for the sailor that George was.

George was truly unforgettable. His detailed stories, warm laugh, distinctive head of hair, and boundless love for his family, friends, and hometown of Cleveland made him one of a kind.

This legacy tree will serve as a beautiful and enduring tribute to his memory—a place for family, friends, grandchildren, and loved ones to visit and celebrate his life. While George’s remains rest at the United States Naval Academy, his alma mater, this special space in his hometown will hold deep meaning for all who knew and loved him.

The tree is at Edgewater Park, near the shores of lake Erie, where George was happiest, sailing with his family.

George's tree was planted in November 2025 at in Upper Edgewater Park in Lakefront Reservation.
