Cleveland Metroparks gratefully acknowledges the friends and family of Charley Bodner for their support of the Legacy Fund. This gift supports reforestation in Cleveland Metroparks now and in the future.

This October Glory Maple is planted in honor of Charley.

Along the path that hugs the river—glowing with yellow leaves in the fall—was Charley’s favorite place to go. Walks on this trail always included a pit stop at the bridge to take in the scenery, sniff the air and enjoy the peace of nature. This tree was planted near that trail so he will always be remembered.

Charley was a special dog. A rescue with a kind heart, he befriended everyone—people and dogs alike. He was a walking buddy, running partner, hiking adventurer, family member, and best friend. His spotted, fluffy coat left behind so much hair—it’s said that if you see one floating by in the park, it might just be his.

Thank you to the friends and family who donated. Charley loved visiting the Metroparks, especially Big Creek Reservation. Now, this is a place where we can remember him, near his favorite trail.

We hope this tree brings beauty and peace to this special place in honor of a truly special dog.

For the dog who was loved by all—sweet Charley boy.

Charley's tree was planted in April 2025 at Snow Picnic Area in Big Creek Reservation.
