10 Best Overlooks to See Fall Colors

My Mountain Overlook, Brecksville Reservation

This vista over Chippewa Creek is beautiful, especially when fall colors are at their peak. Combine this trail with the White Oak Loop trail for a total of 2.1 miles through the forest, hiking along the ridge and taking in the view of My Mountain.

Tinker's Creek Gorge Overlook, Bedford Reservation

Tinker’s Creek travels 28.2 miles and is the largest tributary that feeds the Cuyahoga River. The creek drops a dramatic 220 feet over a course of two miles and has carved out a steep, walled gorge. The best place to view the gorge is from the Tinker's Creek Gorge Scenic Overlook, which offers a spectacular vista in the fall. The overlook is wheelchair accessible.

Stinchcomb Memorial, Rocky River Reservation

This site sits at one of the highest points in the Rocky River Valley, offering sweeping views of the Rocky River Reservation and parts of Lakewood. It’s an ideal spot to observe water-loving trees and the vibrant colors they offer. Enjoy the rich reds of maples, the golden yellows of sycamores, and the deep purples of sumacs.

Script Cleveland Sign, Upper Edgewater, Lakefront Reservation

Visit Upper Edgewater in Lakefront Reservation and you'll be awed with spectacular views of Lake Erie and the city of Cleveland. While you're there, enjoy some nature play at the Lindsey Family Play Space and take photos of the Cleveland script sign.

Eastern Ledge Trail, Euclid Creek Reservation

A new bridge built in 2022 is the entrance to this beautiful hike and treats you with a view overlooking the dynamic Euclid Creek. The rest of the trail takes you up stairs and sloping hills where you'll be rewarded with an overlook that gives you a stunning view of Ohio's fall colors!

Fort Hill Stairs Overlook, Rocky River Reservation

Climb the 155 steps to the top of Fort Hill, where views of the winding Rocky River and the expansive tree canopy await. This scenic overlook is a stunning spot to take in the fall colors and discover the ancient Earthworks that lie just beyond the stairs.

Oak Ridge Trail, West Creek Reservation

Follow the Oak Ridge Trail under plenty of colorful scarlet, black, and pin oaks to see the West Creek valley in full color. You might also spot some fall color closer to the ground - check the bases of the trees for bright orange jack 'o lantern mushrooms on these trails.

Skyline Trail, West Creek Reservation

Discover the beautiful colors of autumn against the Cleveland skyline! This trail walks you up a slow incline to an overlook. Here, you can view the vibrant colors of the tree canopies all the way to Lake Erie. Bring your camera for a stunning shot you'll want to frame!

Towpath Trail, Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Take a walk along the Ohio & Erie Canal to an overlook on the Cuyahoga River. Enjoy scenic views of both historic waterways while keeping an eye out for wildlife such as Bald Eagles and beavers. Enjoy the beautiful colors of the changing Cottonwoods and other floodplain trees.
