About this Location

Cleveland Metroparks Nature Preschool at Garfield Park opened in September of 2023 as our third and newest location. What makes this location unique is our access to the beautifully renovated Garfield Pond, which we sometimes go fishing in with our Outdoor Recreation team. This location also accepts child care vouchers (PFCC) and is our first location to receive a GOLD Step Up to Quality rating.

This location is in Garfield Park Reservation. Our indoor classroom is located inside the building that houses our Outdoor Recreation, Youth Outdoors, and Mobile Outreach teams. Our outdoor classroom is directly next to the building, inside the fenced area. Please be advised although our address is on Broadway, the entrance itself is on the other side off of Garfield Parkway.

Cleveland Metroparks Nature Preschool at North Chagrin

Registration for our 2026-27 school year is currently on a waitlist.  Please see our registration page for details.  

About this Location

Cleveland Metroparks Nature Preschool at North Chagrin opened in September of 2020 as our second location. What makes this location unique is that we share the space with our resident owls and turkey vulture. We also have a very active vernal pool nearby and our own frog pond in our outdoor classroom; so the amphibian action is exciting in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

This location is in North Chagrin Reservation. Our indoor classroom is located inside the Nature Education Building (near the aviary). Our outdoor classroom is directly next to the building. Please be advised that the closest parking at this location is a .2 mile walk from the Nature Center parking lot.

Cleveland Metroparks Nature Preschool at Rocky River

About this Location

Opened in 2018, Cleveland Metroparks Nature Preschool's Rocky River location is our first. What makes this location unique is our access to the Rocky River and Fort Hill stairs. We also get a lot of beaver activity in the area and we love to see what they are up to all year round.

This location is in Rocky River Reservation. Our indoor classroom is located inside the Nature Center. Our outdoor classroom - which we call "base camp" - is between the nature center and the storybook trail. Please be advised that there is not direct access parking at this location, and the classroom is a short walk from the parking lot.     

A Message from the Teachers 

"We have been teaching together for four years now. We share a love of childhood, nature, and silly songs. We are nurturing and strive to create a family-like feeling in our classes.

We believe social emotional learning is the heart of early childhood education. Because of that, we focus on identifying feelings, how to speak up for oneself, and how to listen to others. Being kind to others and nature is very important to the program.

Preschool years are an important time for learning independence. We want to help the children build skills to help themselves. Academics are integrated through play and activities inside and out. Following the rhythms of nature and students’ interests and abilities language and math skills are introduced and practiced daily. Science concepts are learned first-hand through being immersed in Nature.

Our goal at the Nature Preschool program at Rocky River Reservation is to make this first learning experience gentle and fun."
