Cleveland Metroparks today officially unveiled major enhancements at Wallace Lake, located in Berea in Mill Stream Run Reservation, marking a significant transformation of one of Cleveland Metroparks most beloved recreational destinations. The project enhances accessibility, expands outdoor recreation opportunities, and offers guests new ways to enjoy Wallace Lake with the addition of the new Wallace Lake Grille and picnic garden.

New amenities include the addition of a new pavilion, modern, ADA-accessible restroom facilities, improved beach access, expanded parking, new volleyball courts, and new community gathering spaces that will support year-round programming and events. The enhancements will support expanded outdoor education and recreation programming, as well as kayak rentals for visitors to explore the lake.

The Wallace Lake Grille, an all-new expansive seasonal concession building, will offer made-to-order fare. Menu highlights include the turkey wrap, caprese sandwich, summer salad, crispy chicken sandwich, and popular summer staples like pretzel bites, chicken fingers, hot dogs and more. The Wallace Lake Grille will be open daily 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., also serving cocktails and craft beer. The space is designed to support longer visits for families and park-goers, featuring a shaded picnic garden that will offer guests a relaxed, accessible outdoor dining experience. The new heated pavilion will be reservable during the off-season for group gatherings and events.

“Wallace Lake has long been a cherished destination for Northeast Ohio families,” said Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian M. Zimmerman. “These improvements ensure that Wallace Lake is evolving to meet the needs of our guests and continues to be a place where the community can connect with nature and enjoy the scenic beauty of Mill Stream Run Reservation for generations to come.”

The project was made possible through the support from Cargill, individual donors, and Cleveland Metroparks Emerald Necklace Endowment Fund. Project management and design were led by the Cleveland Metroparks Planning and Design team, with a large portion of the work performed by Cleveland Metroparks in-house construction divisions. Additional construction and design services were provided by Regency Construction Services, Inc., in collaboration with PTA Engineering, Osborn Engineering, Wallace Pancher Group, and SME.
