Asian Lantern Festival at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Glows On – Extended Through September 13

Wild Ride returns, offering guests a chance to pedal through the glowing lantern displays.

Cleveland Metroparks Zoo today announced the popular Asian Lantern Festival presented by Meijer is extended through September 13. In addition, the Zoo announced the return of Wild Ride, a one-night-only event on September 14 where guests of all ages can ride their bike through the Zoo after-hours and experience the illuminated lanterns one last time.

The Asian Lantern Festival extension includes 14 additional nights for guests to experience all-new, large-scale lantern displays, live acrobatic performances on the Fifth Third Bank Stage, culturally-inspired cuisine at the MetroHealth Asian Food Market and a variety of interactive and themed areas, including Animals of the Nile presented by CrossCountry Mortgage as well as ocean creatures, botanical gardens and more. Tickets are on sale now for the additional walk-though dates as well as three additional dates for the Asian Lantern Festival Drive Thru experience. 

“Due to overwhelming demand, we’re thrilled to extend this unique after-hours event, allowing even more guests to explore the magic of the lantern displays and new additions like Dragons Landing, complemented by a dozen illuminated dragons, including a 100-foot-long ‘ice and fire’ dragon display,” said Cleveland Metroparks Chief Marketing Officer Kelly Manderfield.

Wild Ride, a family-friendly cycling experience for all ages, returns Sunday, September 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. Guests can ride through the zoo on their bikes at this one-night-only event. The ride offers guests one last chance to experience the illuminated lanterns from this year’s festival. Bikes are required and tickets are now on sale at FutureForWildlife.org/wildride. Member tickets are $15 and $16 for non-members. Children under 2 are free.

Tickets for the Asian Lantern Festival are now on sale, and guests can reserve their spot and save by purchasing tickets in advance. The advanced discounted cost for Zoo members is $24 or a 4-pack for $70. Advance non-member tickets are $27 or a 4-pack for $80. Limited same-day tickets can be purchased online or at the Box Office for an increased cost. The Box Office will close at 9:30 p.m. Drive-through tickets are $49 per vehicle for members and $59 per vehicle for non-members. Children under 2 are admitted free.
