About

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has completed $6.9 million in repairs to the Cleveland West Pier, currently connecting Wendy Park in the Lakefront Reservation to the Historic U.S. Coast Guard Station. Repairs to the West Pier ensure Cleveland Harbor’s viability and contributions to the local and national transportation sector and protect the future of some of the area’s best waterfront recreation opportunities.

Repairs encased 1,320 feet of the 1,430-foot pier with a new concrete overlay, held in place with steel sheet pile. Construction by USACE began on August 5, 2024 and finished in late Summer 2025.

Following the USACE repair work on the pier, Cleveland Metroparks installed fencing and a pre-cast concrete trough to allow for future utility connections to the Historic U.S. Coast Guard Station. All work, including utility work by Cleveland Metroparks is now complete.

"The Station" sailing center at the Historic U.S. Coast Guard station, operated by the Foundry, has temporarily moved operations to North Gordon Park during construction. The Station will return to its original location once construction is complete.
