Our Impact

Cleveland Metroparks, recognized as one of the nation’s top park systems, spans more than 25,000 acres across 18 park reservations and over 330 miles of trails that circle the city of Cleveland in an Emerald Necklace. The Park District is also home to nine public golf courses, five nature centers, dining and retail destinations, and the award-winning Cleveland Metroparks Zoo — offering year-round recreation, conservation, and education opportunities for all. The Park District attracts more than 19 million recreational visitors annually and contributes $873 million in economic impact to the region.

Proposed Constitutional Amendment to Eliminate Property Taxes in Ohio 

A proposed Ohio constitutional amendment is seeking to abolish property taxes throughout Ohio that would impact LOCAL government by a projected $24 billion, decimating local services in every community including public schools, libraries, emergency services, services for senior citizens and those with developmental disabilities and your Cleveland Metroparks!

Property tax support is essential to the:

  • Protection and conservation 18 park reservations that collectively span over 25,000 acres
  • Safety and security services across the Park District
  • More than 5,000 free and low-cost annual nature education and recreation programs that serve more than 500,000 students, families, seniors and local groups annually
  • Maintenance and improvements to park trails, picnic areas, bridges and facilities 
  • The guest experience of more than 19 million recreational visitors to park reservations, golf courses and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
