Did you know Cleveland Metroparks has outdoor recreation programs specifically designed for people with disabilities including but not limited to individuals with physical, cognitive, neurological, visual, hearing, and sensory impairments? Recent studies show that spending time in nature has positive impacts on our physical and mental health. Cleveland Metroparks is dedicated to connecting individuals and communities to access natural spaces and outdoor experiences. Visit with staff from Outdoor Recreation and Canalway Center for a sensory-friendly experience after hours at this accessible open house and learn about some of our upcoming adaptive and inclusive outdoor recreation programs and amenities such as hiking, kayaking, handcycling, camp cooking, fishing and more! Explore some of the adaptive equipment we have available, try some activities, meet the resident aquatic and other wildlife that lives at the nature center and get your questions answered. We also want to hear from you about your outdoor recreation experiences and how we can better serve people with disabilities, their families and caregivers in future Cleveland Metroparks Outdoor Recreation programs. Drop by for a few minutes or stay for the full hour. Light refreshments will be available. The open house is open to guests of all abilities who are interested in learning more about outdoor recreation opportunities available for people with disabilities in Cleveland Metroparks.
