This American Canoe Association (ACA) SUP Instructor Update is designed for individuals and programmers who are currently certified Level 1 and/or Level 2 SUP Instructors to update their skills and knowledge. Since this is a L1-2 update, participants should expect to be in up to Level 2 conditions in the open water of Lake Erie for a portion of the course. This intensive 1 day update will allow instructors to review updated ACA teaching curriculum and techniques as well as share various teaching strategies. Instructors should be prepared to teach all of the curriculum within their level of certification as well as bring at least one game/activity that they use when teaching SUP programs. Instructors should review
SUP Instructor Criteria including a
sample Instructor Update outline.
The entire program will be spent outside, so all guests should come dressed to paddle. Dress in non-cotton layers such as synthetic materials, fleece, wool, etc. Reference the
3Ws of layering for more information about how to dress. Classes will begin promptly, so plan to arrive early. Please bring a completed
waiver.
