The Zoo locations and animals seen during a Virtual Follow Up vary depending on the time of year.

During registration, we ask that you indicate which two (2) areas you would be interested in seeing during your Virtual Follow Up. While only one area will be explored, this provides flexibility in case certain animals are not available the day of your experience.

    Locations available:
    • Asian Highlands and Wilderness Trek
    • RainForest
    • African Elephant Crossing

Due to the nature of this program we cannot guarantee certain animals will be seen during your virtual field trip.

Zoo Science Units for Grades 1-5 feature videos, at-home and at-school activities and a short video peek at a connected zoo career. Click on Zoo Science Units to learn more about this companion resource.

After completing the program registration, we will send you a confirmation email with a link to a teacher/parent guide. You can expect Zoom connection details one week prior to the scheduled Virtual Follow Up.

Can I reschedule my Zoo visit and/or Virtual Follow Up?

With advanced notice of one week prior to the scheduled Zoo visit date, the visit (and subsequent Virtual Follow Up) may be rescheduled for free to a new date pending inventory/availability before the end of the following calendar year with a maximum of one (1) reschedule move. Virtual Follow Up dates cannot be rescheduled without also moving the on-site Zoo visit as these two dates are linked as a bundle.

Does the Zoo visit include The RainForest?

Yes. Admission to both the Zoo and The RainForest is included. Admission tickets will be included with your emailed receipt as an e-mail attachment. Don't forget to print these tickets or have them on a mobile device that can be scanned upon arrival at the Zoo. Additional Zoo tickets can be purchased from the Guest Resource Center located at the Zoo's front entrance across from the Gift Shop.

What are the on-site program options?

During registration, teachers will be asked to select ONE of the following program options to complete during the on-site Zoo visit. These are self-guided activities designed to challenge students to work together and think in a scientific manner. They will make observations, work with and manipulate data, and draw their own conclusions as they learn through discovery. The Connections to Africa programs are designed to take 1-2 hours to complete and the Veterinary Bag program is designed to take 1 hour to complete.
