Hemlock Loop Trail 1 mile (1)
Take I-271 to Broadway/Forbes exit. Go north on Broadway to Union Street, veer left onto Union Street. Turn left on Egbert then turn right on Gorge Parkway. Turn right on Dunham, go over bridge onto Button Road to Hemlock Creek Picnic Area. Start at Hemlock Creek Picnic Area then walk along scenic Tinker’s Creek to enjoy views of hemlocks balancing over the rising shale cliffs that line the creek. Try to catch a glimpse of the resident great blue heron fishing in the waters.
Big Creek Reservation
Lake Isaac Trail 1.2 miles (1)
Take I-71 to Rt. 42 (Pearl Rd.), turn right on Whitney, turn right on Big Creek Parkway, and park at the Lake Isaac Waterfowl Sanctuary parking area. Your journey starts at a glacial pothole lake that provides important refuge for waterfowl. This easy wooded trail circles behind the lake with a scenic overlook of Baldwin Creek
Bradley Woods Reservation
Bunns Lake Loop Trail 0.5 miles (1)
Take I-480 to Stearns Road. Turn right on Stearns Road to Lorain Road. Turn left on Lorain Road, then right on Barton Road to Bradley Road. Turn right on Bradley Road. Start at the Bradley Woods Reservation parking lot. The level trail around Bunn’s Lake provides many opportunities to see waterfowl and frogs.
Wildflower Loop Trail 0.75 miles (2)
Take I-77 to Rt. 82 east. Turn right on Chippewa Creek Dr. Start at Brecksville Nature Center and follow the Wildflower Loop Trail signs. Explore a stream valley and visit the Harriet Keeler Memorial. Spring wildflowers are labeled on the trail through June.
Euclid Creek Reservation
Squirrel Run Trail 2.4 miles (2)
Take I-90 to East 185th Street. Turn left on East 185th Street and cross Euclid Avenue. Turn right on Euclid Creek Parkway. Start at Welsh Woods Picnic Area and head north to Highland Road, then return to Welsh Woods Picnic Area. This rolling trail threads through hardwood forest.
Hinckley Lake Loop Trail 3.4 miles (2)
Take I-71 to Rt. 303. Go east on Rt. 303 to Rt. 606 (Hinckley Hills Rd.) and turn right on Rt. 606 to Bellus Rd. Turn left at Bellus Rd. then turn right on West Dr. Start at Hinckley Lake Boathouse off West Drive. This trail provides many opportunities for viewing wading birds and waterfowl as it winds around Hinckley Lake.
Fox Squirrel Loop Trail 0.8 miles (1)
Take I-90 to Crocker-Bassett exit. Go north on Crocker Road to Wolf Road. Turn right on Wolf Road. Turn left on Porter Creek Drive, then right at “Y”. Start at the trailhead north of the parking lot. Walk east on the all purpose trail about 0.4 miles then turn left onto Fox Squirrel Loop Trail. Abundant oaks and maples are scattered along the trail providing food for squirrels, chipmunks and deer.
Mill Stream Run Reservation
Royalview Yellow and Orange Loop Trail 4.7 miles (3)
Take I-71 to Route 82. Turn east on Route 82. Turn right on Valley Parkway. Turn right on Royalview Lane to the first parking lot. Start at the Royalview Trailhead. Walk through young forests and pass an old foundation and chimney with gentle climbs and beautiful creek views. The yellow trail is shared with mountain bikes.
North Chagrin Reservation
Sylvan Loop Trail 1.25 miles (3)
Take I-90 to Rt. 91 (SOM Center Rd). Turn left on Rt. 91. Turn left on Sunset Lane. Turn right on Buttermilk Falls Parkway. Start at A. B. Williams Woods parking lot. This hilly, rugged trail travels through a beech-maple climax forest along the edge of a ravine which overlooks the wetland below.
Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation
Lower 40 Loop Trail 1.2 miles (2)
Take I-77 to Grant Avenue. Go west on Grant Avenue. Turn left on E. 49th Street. Turn right into Whittlesey Way. Starting at CanalWay Center walk down the hill behind the center. Turn right after you cross the bridge. At the fork, go left and follow loop trail. End at Canalway Center. Look for impressive 8’ yellow, daisy-like, wingstem around the wood edges.
Rocky River Reservation
Mount Pleasant Loop Trail 1.5 miles (2)
Take I-480 to Clague Road exit. Go south on Clague Road. Turn right on Mastick Road then left on Shepard Lane. Turn right into Rocky River Nature Center parking lot. Start behind Rocky River Nature Center. The trail crosses Shepard Lane. Enjoy this shaded trail as you hike along the wetlands up to an older oak forest.
South Chagrin Reservation
Look About Lodge Loop Trail 1.5 miles (2)
Take 422 east. Go north on Route 91 (SOM Center Road) exit, then turn right on Miles Road. Start at Look About Lodge. Surrounded by hemlock trees, this trail leads you to several little waterfalls and breathtaking views of Sulphur Springs Creek.
West Creek Reservation
Bluebird Point Overlook Loop Trail 1 miles (1)
Take I-480 to State Road (south), turn left on West Ridgewood Road, turn right into West Creek Reservation and park at the Watershed Stewardship Center parking lot. Begin your hike at Monarch Bluff Picnic Area and traverse a series of bioswales and constructed wetlands that provide habitat for wildlife such as waterfowl, frogs and dragonflies. Travel uphill toward a bridge that overlooks West Creek’s gorge. Round a bend through a stand of cottonwoods to Bluebird Point for a view of a restoration meadow in-progress, before returning to the main parking lot.
