    Center Assistant

    Requirements

    Natural History Surveys & Citizen Science

    Requirements

    • Age: 16 and older
    • Time Commitment: Schedule varies depending on activity
    • Qualifications: Have an understanding of, or willingness to learn about natural history, able to keep clear and concise records, work cooperatively with staff as well as independently, ability to hike on and off trail.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify, observe and record valuable data as you help research species throughout Cleveland Metroparks. Assignments include: o Amphibian Monitoring o Natural History Survey (snakes)

    Requirements

    • Age: 16 and older

    • Qualifications: Have an understanding of, or willingness to learn about natural history, able to keep clear and concise records, work cooperatively with staff as well as independently, ability to hike on and off trail.

    Responsibilities

    • Identify, observe and record valuable data as you help research species throughout Cleveland Metroparks. Current assignments include:
      • Butterfly Surveys
      • FrogWatch - Citizen Science
      • NestWatch - Citizen Science
      • Purple Martin Surveys

    BECOME A VOLUNTEER

    Outside Attendant

    Requirements

    • Age: 16 and older
    • Time Commitment: One 4-hour shift every other week
    • Qualifications: Enjoy interacting with people of all ages, ability to work independently, computer literate or willingness to learn, knowledge of boating and boating safety, ability to operate electric or gas motorboat and handle lead-acid batteries and gasoline.

    Responsibilities

    • Educate guests on safe and appropriate use of boats, life jackets, and other rental equipment
    • Assist guests with merchandise, including handling live bait
    • General housekeeping duties, including moving and cleaning bait tanks and boats

    Nature Shop Retail Assistant

    Requirements

    • Age: 18 and older
    • Time Commitment: One 4-hour shift every other week or as needed
    • Qualifications: Enjoy interacting with people of all ages, ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other volunteers and the management team, previous retail experience helpful but not required, computer literacy or willingness to learn, able to stand for prolonged periods of time.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist the Boathouse Shop with day-to-day operations, plus some special events and park programs.
    • Assist customers with merchandise selection
    • Maintain sales area and displays
    • Enter sales into point-of-sale computer system
    • Receive merchandise and maintain inventory
    • Assist with merchandise loss prevention
    • Administrative tasks

    Watershed Stewardship Volunteer Program

     SPECIAL EVENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES It takes a lot of hands and hearts to pull off a successful Cleveland Metroparks event. We need help in almost every aspect of events, from setting up and tearing down, to assisting with crafts and demonstrations, to registering guests, and even assisting with parking! If sustainability is your niche, we have a job for you on our Green Team to keep our events as sustainable as possible.
