I hope everyone remembered to spring forward last night! Daylight Savings Time is the sign that winter is (hopefully) coming to a close, the snow is melting and before long, things will start blooming– plus the official start to spring is just 12 days away! Daylight Savings Time also means more sunlight – how will you enjoy the longer, brighter days? Here’s what I am planning this spring:
- Taking lots of hikes – spring hiking is amazing – you can see plants start to bloom, but also get a new perspective on the parks since many of the trees are bare you can see further than usual. I am going to breathe in the fresh air, and see what new things I can discover. And, I plan on bringing my dog Briar along with me. She runs to the door as soon as I grab her harness. I don’t know who loves hiking more – me or her. I look forward to discovering new trails this spring!
- Going to the Zoo – Penguin Shores opens in less than a month (April 3) - I am anxiously awaiting the adorable penguins’ arrival. In addition to that, this spring I am also going to feed a giraffe – I can’t believe I have not taken advantage of this awesome opportunity yet! I will be checking that off my list soon! I can’t wait to get up-close to my favorite animal!
- Eating at Merwin’s Wharf – I am counting down the days until the patio opens! I look forward to sitting outside, enjoying a black bean burger, watching the freighters go by and playing giant jenga. I also cannot wait to try the new seasonal menu debuting May 1. (Note: If you are participating in St. Patrick’s Day celebrations – you should stop by Merwin’s Wharf – you can enjoy a free breakfast from 8 - 11 a.m., plus Irish fare and live music in the afternoon – plus, if it’s warm enough, the patio will be open. too!)
Get your spring to-do list ready, mine sure is!
