Rules:

• Only Steelhead will be judged in the main Derby
• Your catch must be taken on foot.  No watercraft.
• Your top entry will be counted (one placing prize per entrant), keep all photos of additional fish!
• Fish submitted for the derby MUST be released.
• You must have a valid 2023 Ohio fishing license if over 15 years old.
• All registered participants will be given a numbered chip at registration.  
• To submit your catch, take a photo prior to release. Photo must contain:
  • Tape measure for length measurement (not on top of fish, take it above or under)
  • Your numbered chip.
  • Both must be visible and legible for submission. If in doubt, take another one!
  • You must bring photo submission to the derby Headquarters for official entry.
• Only length of your catch will be used for contest purposes.
• Any additional fish you have to submit will be used to break a tie. 
• You must have your chip and photo(s) to the pavilion by 2:30 for your catch to be included!
• You must fish on the Rocky River (either branch). Creeks of the Rocky are out of bounds. If the river is flooded the event will be open to include trout in local lakes too.
• Rod specifications (these are the stock character rods for kids such as the ones made by Shakespeare)
  • Must be a single piece rod
  • Must be a closed reel
  • Line changes and leader are acceptable.  No braid!
  • Rod must be stock.
  • Rod length must not exceed 32”
  • Legal hook configuration (according to ODNR) only.
• You may not have any other rods or reels with you during the derby hours. Leave them in your vehicle!
