Terrain/Distance: Camping will be in the grassy field at Wallace Lake. Optional activities will be on the grass and crushed limestone path. Access to the restrooms is along a crushed limestone path.

Reserve your spot for this special family campout at Wallace Lake. Whether you’re an experienced camper and looking for a unique way to enjoy Cleveland Metroparks or new to camping, knowledgeable instructors will be available to provide guidance or to inspire fun on a weekend getaway. Explore paddling related activities, go fishing, learn some pro-camping tips and tricks, or create your own adventure before relaxing by the fire. Don’t forget your flashlight to hike back to your tent at night. Be sure to bring dinner or cook on your own at one of the limited grills throughout the park as well as bring breakfast for the morning. Food will be available for purchase at Quarry Rock Café on Saturday, 1 – 7 p.m. and Sunday, 7– 9 a.m.
If this is your first camping experience, bring all of your questions for our instructors to answer.
Each person who is spending the night must be registered beforehand.

Schedule:
Day 1:
1 - 4:30 p.m. Registration, camp set-up
Choose your own adventure: swimming, biking, or exploring the
trails by foot.
2 - 6:30 p.m. Drop in for paddleports safety skills challenge activities, explore
the smart camping stations, or choose your own adventure.
Try stand up paddleboarding or kayaking (youth up to 17 years
old MUST be with a participating adult)
Reserve a fishing rod (youth up to 12 years old must be with a
participating adult)
6 – 10 p.m. Community campfire including a demonstration of pie iron
cooking. S‘mores provided by Cleveland Metroparks.
Feel free to bring your own food such as s’mores/
\hot dogs and utensils to cook over the fire too!
9 p.m. Sunset (Make sure all food is secured for the night).
11 p.m. Quiet Time - Please be respectful of all campers
Day 2:
6a.m. Sunrise
7 – 11 a.m. Camp teardown and clean-up
Breakfast (on your own) or buy it from Quarry
Rock Café from 7– 9 a.m.
Explore on your own
8 – 10:30 a.m. Try stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, or reserve a fishing rod.
Enjoy a self-guided scavenger hunt.
10 - 11 a.m. Departure - See you next time!
All tents MUST be taken down by 11 a.m.
Explore on your own ideas
- Grab a snack at Quarry Rock Café.
- Open 1– 7 p.m. Saturday, so you can grab a snack or dinner.
- Open 7 – 9 a.m. Sunday, so you can grab breakfast.
- Go swimming. (The beach will only be guarded during regular lifeguard hours, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
- Take a hike or bring a bike to ride on the All Purpose Trail.
- Bring a rod and go fishing.
- Play sand volleyball.
- Bring your own games to play in the field.
Suggested Packing List
- Sleeping system: Tent, sleeping bag/blankets, sleeping pad/air mattress, pillow
- Extra change of clothes, warm layers for evening/morning (reference the 3Ws of layering for more information about how to dress), pajamas, rain gear/poncho (just in case), toiletries
- Swimwear and lifejacket. (Lifejackets provided for paddling related programs).
- Headlamp/flashlight
- Bug spray, sunscreen
- Refillable water bottle
- Camp chair/blankets for fire
- Food/items to cook food for meals.
- Additional items to enjoy the park: book, camera, games, etc.
Food Storage Guidelines:
Remember to follow Leave No Trace principles when storing your food for the night. This includes making sure all food is either stored in your car or small animal (chipmunk, squirrel, raccoon, etc.) proof container such as a cooler with tight straps around it. DON’T store food in your tent. Staff will be available onsite to assist you with any of this.

General Essential Eligibility Requirements that all participants must meet. A participant….
- …must meet minimum age and pre-trip meeting requirements for each individual program.
- …must meet program fee requirements for each individual program.
- …must be able to remain adequately hydrated, fed, and properly dressed in order to avoid environmental injuries such as hypothermia, heat-related illnesses, sunburn, and frostbite.
- …must refrain from use of alcohol and tobacco before or during outdoor recreation activities and any illegal drugs throughout the duration of a program.
- …must be able, either alone or with the aid of a personal care attendant, or through arrangements outlined on the Request for Administration of Medication Form or an Individual Medication Plan to manage, administer and protect any prescription medications currently prescribed to him or her. All medications, including over-the-counter medications shall be listed as required on the Medical Information portion of the registration materials.
- …must be able, either alone, with the aid of an augmentative communication device, or a personal care attendant to follow directions and communicate needs.
- …must not exceed manufacturers’ maximum recommended weight limit for equipment being used.
- …must be able to manage personal mobility either alone, with a reasonable amount of assistance, with the aid of a personal care attendant, or with adaptive equipment.
- …must be able to independently wear and maintain wearing all safety equipment correctly.
- …must be able, in the event of an unexpected capsize, to breathe independently and maintain a seal with their mouth (i.e. not require medical devices to sustain breathing), and independently demonstrate the ability to self-right him or herself from face down to face up position while wearing the appropriate PFD.
- …must be able to independently hold their head and neck upright (without restraints), in order to maintain proper body positioning, avoid an unexpected capsize, and freely exit watercraft.
- …must be able to reenter the watercraft in deep water independently or with a reasonable amount of assistance.
- …must be able to independently wear and maintain wearing all safety equipment correctly including but not limited to PFD (Personal Flotation Device), helmet and harness.
- …must be able, either alone or with the aid of a personal care attendant or adaptive equipment to travel at least 1 mile on varying terrain as well as be able to carry their own gear on backpacking trips.
- …must be able, either alone or with the aid of a personal care attendant or adaptive equipment to travel on sloped, natural surface trails with rocks and roots for varying distances to get to a climbing site void of amenities such as restroom facilities, water, etc.
- …must be able to independently wear and maintain wearing all safety equipment correctly.
- …must refrain from having any external devices other than required climbing safety equipment.
- …must be able to, for extended trips only, travel in a physically demanding, remote backcountry environment for the uninterrupted period of the trip length, which can range from one to ten days with varying temperatures and environmental conditions including but not limited to, rain snow, hail, sun, and wind. The remoteness is such that cell signal may be unavailable, and it may require at minimum an hour, but perhaps in excess of 2 days travel to reach the nearest road and advanced medical care; participant assumes all costs associated with rescue.
