      Learn safe boating fundamentals and laws that apply to paddling, sailing, and power boating.   *Also see event listing on Cleveland Metroparks Facebook.

      • Ohio Boating Education Course - March 30, April 6, and April 13
        Thursday, Mar 30, 2023, 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
        (16 spots available) Register

      Program Dates: March 30, April 6, AND April 13 from 6 – 9 p.m. on Thursdays
      Program meets at: Rocky River Nature Center.
      Ages: 12 & over (While parents are encouraged to join minors, so they become more familiar with Ohio Boating laws too, it is not required for this course).
      Fee: $15 per person (All guests MUST register) 

      Before boating season starts, learn safe boating fundamentals and laws that apply to paddling, sailing, and power boating.  Successful completion of the course meets the mandatory education requirement for people born after January 1, 1982 to operate a watercraft of ten horsepower or greater. It may also save you money on boat insurance.  To become certified, you must (attend all 3 classes and) get at least a 70% on the test in the last session.  Classes will begin promptly, so plan to arrive early.

      All boating programs are funded in part through a grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks & Watercraft.

      Cleveland Metroparks staff can adapt many programs to be accessible to anyone who would like to participate assuming they meet the essential eligibility criteria.
