      Ages: adults
Fee: $400 per person (All guests MUST register)
Includes: training tools, stand up paddleboard, and equipment
Prerequisite: ACA Annual Membership & SEIC dues (www.americancanoe.org), First Aid & CPR certification, and previous SUP experience are required. Completion of ACA Essentials of SUP course preferred (Learn-It: SUP and Advanced Stances & Rescues if taken through Cleveland Metroparks).
Terrain/Distance: This is an intense 4-day course on both flatwater and open water Lake Erie paddling for multiple miles each day.

This American Canoe Association (ACA) workshop is designed for individuals and programmers with stand up paddleboard experience, who are interested in offering certified stand up paddleboard classes.  This intensive 4-day workshop is designed as both an Instructor Development Workshop (IDW) and an Instructor Certification Exam (ICE).
The 4-day course will primarily take place at Hinckley Lake Boathouse and focus on Level 1 skills, Level 2 skills, and on-land & on-water student teaching topics.  Participants will likely spend a day in conditions on Lake Erie (based on weather conditions) focusing on trip leading skills.  The schedule will vary based on weather conditions. Throughout the course, experienced trainers will evaluate each candidate's paddling skills, knowledge, and teaching abilities. Candidates will teach a minimum of two topics on-land and on-water. Candidate’s teaching and paddling skills will be critiqued constructively.
Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants can receive SUP instructor certification through the American Canoe Association. Please note, while certification is typically the goal of most candidates, mere participation in this course carries no guarantee of certification. A packet further outlining the course as well as assigned teaching topics will be e-mailed to instructor candidates prior to the course.
The course is designed as a Level 1-2 Essentials of SUP Instructor Certification Workshop in which May 14 -15 will likely be at Hinckley Lake Boathouse focusing on all of Level 1 content as well as some of Level 2 materials. May 21 - 22 will focus on Level 2 content with one of the days being on Lake Erie (weather/conditions dependent).  While we encourage everyone to participate in all 4 days as it allows for a more comprehensive experience, we understand that some guests may only be available for and/or interested in Level 1 (May 14 - 15).  If that is the case, participants can decide to ONLY sign up for May 14 - 15 with the intention of only doing Level 1.  The cost would be $230.  This decision must be made at time of registration.  We WILL NOT refund participants who register for all 4 days and decide during the course not to attend May 21 -22.  Participants interested in only May 14 - 15 (Level 1 only) should call to register: 216-341-1704.
Dress in non-cotton layers such as synthetic materials, fleece, wool, etc. Reference the 3Ws of layering for more information about how to dress. Classes will begin promptly, so plan to arrive early. Please bring a completed waiver.

      Registration ends May 8, 11:59 p.m.
