February 11: Skills and Thrills: Adventures Out West

Click here to register for WebEx virtual presentation.

Planning a trip across the country can seem like a large undertaking, and it can be. However, after this program, you’ll be primed and ready to start planning your own adventure out West. Using his experiences as the guide, Recreation Specialist Dan Sahli will provide you with the information about out West adventure that you seek. In addition to planning a trip out West, you’ll learn pointers about taking the whole family (including the 20-month-old!), making your vehicle adventure ready, and lodging options at various National Parks. You’ll also learn that the entire trip isn’t always Instagram worthy (you have to do laundry!), but there will be plenty of beautiful photos to enjoy and pointers and locations given that you’ll want to jot down to include on your next adventure. Families and individuals are both encouraged to attend. We’ll have time for questions, so come prepared.

February 25: Skills &Thrills: Paddling the Allegheny River & Lake Erie Water Trail

Click here to register for WebEx virtual presentation.

Paddling exploded during the pandemic. Like many, Outdoor Recreation staff Rachel Nagle and Ashley Rossetti devoted the summer to paddling. Journey along on their paddling adventures of a 3-day paddling trip on the Upper Middle section of the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania including how to bring everything you need on both a kayak and SUP for this fun camping adventure. Then, journey closer to Cleveland exploring the 20+ mile Lake Erie Water Trail. Learn how it can be broken into sections or paddled all at once! They’ll even show you a few highlights from other paddling trips such as paddling to the Cleveland Crib (Water Intake) and paddling on the Cuyahoga River Water Trail. You won't believe the number of paddling opportunities available in and around Northeast Ohio that won’t eat multiple tanks of gas or require a flight. Bring lots of paddling questions to these two dedicated paddlers, who want to inspire you to safely get out and paddle!

March 11: Skills & Thrills: Climbing Ohio & Beyond

Click here to register for WebEx virtual presentation.

Registration link for WebEx virtual presentation will go live February 25.

Rock climbing has exploded in the past few years, so come learn the basics about climbing while also gaining inspiration about climbing in and around Ohio, including Whipp’s Ledges, Logtown, and the Mad River Gorge. Experienced and certified instructors will show various climbing areas around Ohio while also providing some non-local flare, inspiration, and information about other popular climbing areas in and around the country. Be sure to bring your questions about climbing because this is a great place to get them answered!

      Still eager for more adventure?
Since we couldn’t see you at our booth for this year’s Banff Film festival at Capitol Theatre, we thought we’d share information about their virtual tour this year. Click here to discover this year’s virtual Banff Film festival!
