New walking program launched in second year of partnership
Cleveland Metroparks and The MetroHealth System are partnering for the second year to bring more opportunities for residents of Northeast Ohio to become healthier. The organizations are launching a new walking program this summer,
Steps to Good Health
, aimed at bringing entire families together to enjoy nature and live an active lifestyle.
In the
Steps to Good Health
program, MetroHealth volunteers will lead walks on designated trails in Brecksville, Lyndhurst, Rocky River and Parma. In addition, MetroHealth experts will conduct health talks at various Cleveland Metroparks locations throughout the summer.
"Collaborating with Cleveland Metroparks provides more opportunities for people to live a healthier lifestyle and take advantage of the beautiful landscape of Cuyahoga County," said Akram Boutros, MD, FACHE, president and CEO of MetroHealth. "We are committed to keeping people well, and know this partnership will help families come together, be active and enjoy nature."
"We are extremely excited to cultivate this important partnership with MetroHealth. It is an excellent example of our continuing efforts in community outreach, and an extension of our mission of conservation, education and recreation," said Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman.
MetroHealth will sponsor Grandparents' Day at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on September 11, when all grandparents will receive complimentary Zoo admission. MetroHealth will also sponsor a golf clinic with a Cleveland Metroparks PGA Golf Pro at one of eight Cleveland Metroparks Golf Courses.
Cleveland Metroparks and MetroHealth first teamed up in 2015 to help adults 55 and better stay healthy and enjoy an active lifestyle by offering health talks and other programs. As the second year of the partnership begins, the organizations are working together to help entire families be healthy and active together. There are additional benefits of being a MetroHealth Prime member throughout Cleveland Metroparks.
