Celebrate National Trails Day and support Cleveland Metroparks by participating in the Healthy Planet Healthy People 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 6, in Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation. Considered one of the most scenic races in Greater Cleveland, this chip-timed 3.1-mile Run/Walk starts on Valley Parkway at 9 a.m., and winds through the natural surface trails in Rocky River Reservation.
�Our Healthy Planet, Healthy People 5K is a lively race that is fun and challenging for runners of all skill levels. Since one of the unique features of the race is that it includes trails not just roads, we are excited that this year the race will be held on National Trails Day,� said Valerie Fetzer, Rocky River Nature Center Manager.
Awards will be given to the top overall male and female and the top three males and females in the following age groups: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
Pre-registration is open until Friday, June 5 at 9 a.m. for $20. Late registration of $25 and packet pickup is from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rocky River Nature Center on Friday, June 5. Day-of registration and packet pickup on Saturday, June 6 is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Proceeds from the race support the Park District and donations can be made that directly support Rocky River Nature Center and its year-round programming. Healthy Planet, Healthy People 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods, Bruegger's Bagels and Hermes Cleveland.
Big Cedar Point Picnic Area is located off Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North Olmsted. Suggested parking is at Rocky River Nature Center, Little Cedar Point Picnic Area and Frostville Museum.
