Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and the Cleveland Zoological Society are teaming up to make Father's Day extra special at the Zoo this Sunday, June 21 by joining the nationwide celebration of World Giraffe Day!

In addition to FREE admission to the Zoo and the RainForest for all dads, the Zoo will be raising awareness for giraffe conservation with special activities and a fundraising drive to help endangered Rothschild's giraffes in Africa.

There will be fun giraffe crafts and activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the giraffe deck in the Zoo's African Savanna area, the Zoo Society will be holding giraffles at the deck from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as well. Visitors can also meet the giraffe keeper at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the deck.

Throughout the month of June all donations made to giraffe conservation through the Zoo will be matched 4:1 (up to $5,000) thanks to the generosity of the Leiden Conservation Foundation. Everyone can help the Zoo and Zoo Society make this match by participating in the Zoo Society's Giraffe Conservation online challenge. Zoo visitors can also help by donating to the giraffe project at the Quarters for Conservation kiosk at the Zoo, or Rounding-up for Conservation on any purchase in the Zoo's gift shop.

All funds raised will support Operation Twiga to help save Rothschild's giraffes in Uganda.

Northeast Ohio's most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $16.95 per person, $14.95 for seniors ages 62 and older, $12.95 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free.
