Memorial Day weekend is considered by many to be the �official� start of the summer season, and Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is ready to kick it off with a brand new event experience - KidsDays -- on Saturday, May 23 and Sunday, May 24.
Experience a world of kid-friendly fun in one destination during KidsDays at the Zoo including special animal enrichment demonstrations with the tigers, fossa, lions, rhino, dingoes, otters, elephants, grizzly bears, sea lions and swamp monkeys, Meet the Keeper programs, costumed characters, crafts, kids-only games, the chance to march in special kids parades and Touch-A-Truck encounters with some of the Zoo's heavy equipment.
On Saturday, the Zoo will help WVIZ-TV Channel 25 celebrate its 50th anniversary and give kids the chance to meet many of their favorite PBS characters including Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George, Daniel Tiger, Peg & Cat, WordGirl, Super Why, Alpha Pig and Princess Presto.
Families can visit their favorite Zoo animals and exhibits, including the new Penguin Shores exhibit in Northern Trek with a flock of six African penguins, see Professor Wylde's Live Animal Show, take a spin on the Circle of Wildlife Carousel, discover the Nature Discovery Ridge play area and get up close to lorikeets in the Australian Adventure with a cup of nectar.
Northeast Ohio's most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $13.25 per person, $12.25 for seniors ages 62 and older, $9.25 for kids ages 2 to 11 and free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 90 and 480.
