Celebrate your health and support Cleveland Metroparks by participating in the Healthy Planet Healthy People 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, June 7, in Cleveland Metroparks Rocky River Reservation. Proceeds from the race support the Park District and donations can be made that directly support Rocky River Nature Center and its year-round programming.
This time-chipped race begins at 9 a.m. at Big Cedar Point Picnic Area on Valley Parkway and switches to natural surface trails through the woods around Rocky River Nature Center. The course then climbs up 135 stairs to Fort Hill. The steps are a challenge, but the reward is a breathtaking view 90 feet above the Rocky River. Runners continue down the stairs to the finish line back at Big Cedar Point Picnic Area.
A new fun run for kids, the Crazy Critters 100-Yard Dash, has been added to this family-friendly race event. Kids of all ages can race to the finish line by hopping like a frog, jumping like a rabbit, buzzing like a bee and running like a deer. Participants will mimic the critters that call Rocky River Reservation home. Cleveland Cavaliers mascot, Moondog, will be there to cheer everyone on! The Crazy Critters 100-Yard Dash begins at 10 a.m. at Big Cedar Point Picnic Area. It's free and registration is not required.
