Calling all amateur photographers! April 1 kicks off the annual Photo Safari contest, so head to Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and take your best shot.

Entering is as easy as smile on three! Pick up an entry form in the Zoo's Exhibit Hall or online at clevelandmetroparks.com/zoo, choose your best three photos and submit them on photographic paper by October 31.

Photo Safari categories include returning favorites Bird, Friends & Family, Mammal, Plant/Insect, Reptile/Amphibian/Fish and Junior (ages 2-11). A Carousel category this year celebrates the spring debut of the Zoo's new Circle of Wildlife Carousel and Nature Discovery Ridge.

Each month from April through October, Zoo staff will choose a Pic of the Month to be featured on the Zoo's blog, The Roar Report, at clevelandmetroparks.com/zoo. Monthly winners will receive tickets to the Zoo and remain eligible for other Photo Safari prizes.

Photo Safari judges will come together in November to decide the winners of each category, including an overall Best in Show. This year's prizes include Cleveland Metroparks golf passes, Discount Drug Mart gift cards, Zoo tickets, adopt an animal packages and Zoo memberships courtesy of Cleveland Zoo Society and a behind the scenes Zoo tour. Winning photos will be displayed in the Primate, Cat & Aquatics Building.

Northeast Ohio's most-visited year-round attraction, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. From November 1 through March 31, 2013, admission is discounted to $8.25 per person, $5.25 for kids ages 2 to 11 and is free for children younger than 2 and Zoo members. Parking is free. Located at 3900 Wildlife Way, the Zoo is easily accessible from Interstates 71, 90 and 480.
