This summer, be a tourist at Cleveland Metroparks Bug City. But, you won't be just sightseeing; this is a fun, hands-on event with activities and games that are fun for the whole family.
Grab your Bug City passport and be prepared for a day on the town on Saturday, August 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Garfield Park Nature Center in Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights.
Learn what insects do and why they're important to the health of the environment. See amazing insects from around the world and native species, too.
Visit different activity stations and get your Bug City passport stamped to earn a reward. Stop and enjoy a snack' with Chef Gene White. He'll have cooking demonstrations of his bug recipes and tasty samples, including salsa and bug-a-boo brownies. View a wide variety of live and mounted collections of bugs from Ohio to Africa. Meet beekeepers and other insect enthusiasts. See insect predators from Cleveland Metroparks Zoo inside the nature center. Grab a net and hunt for water bugs (we'll release them after we inspect them, of course). Join us for buggy songs and entertainment with Musical Mark, storytelling, make-n-take crafts, and bug bingo.
And, join us for the Mealworm 500, where you can watch mealworms race to finish line!
Garfield Park Nature Center is located off the Broadway Avenue entrance of Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights - north of the I-480/Broadway Avenue exit.
