February is the month of valentines, heart-shaped candy and red roses. Did you also know February is American Heart Month, a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about heart disease and increase knowledge about prevention? What better way to help your heart than by hiking in Cleveland Metroparks?Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, but the good news is heart disease is preventable and controllable. Taking a step in the right direction toward prevention can be as easy as engaging in physical activity for 30 minutes on most days. To commemorate American Heart Month, adults are invited to join a Cleveland Metroparks naturalist on a series of Heart Healthy Hikes every Thursday afternoon in February from 1:30 - 3 p.m. at four different Cleveland Metroparks reservations: February 6 at Highland Picnic Area parking lot in Euclid Creek Reservation.February 13 at Wilson Mills Road parking lot in North Chagrin Reservation.February 20 at Cedar Road parking lot in Acacia Reservation.
