          Whether you prefer gorgeous golds, stunning reds or dramatic browns, breathtaking natural beauty abounds in Cleveland Metroparks this time of year. The "Emerald Necklace" is one of the best places in Greater Cleveland to enjoy the sights and sounds of autumn.

        A spectacular display of fall colors peaks around mid-October. Lace up your walking shoes, grab a sweater and venture out to one of Cleveland Metroparks 18 reservations and enjoy a crisp, fall walk on your own or join a naturalist-led group hike.

    Fall Color At Edgewater Park

    Thursday, October 10 � 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

    Edgewater Park Perkins parking area � Lakefront Reservation

    Join this after-work one mile hike on the beach ridge trail. Take in the fall colors of Edgewater Park, see migrant birds, identify wildflowers and enjoy one of the best views of Cleveland. For more information , call 216-206-1000 or visit clevelandmetroparks.com.



    Fall Exploration Hike

    Saturday, October 12 � 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

    Brecksville Nature Center � Brecksville Reservation

    Join Naturalist John Miller in search of fantastic fungi, alien worms and dazzling diatoms. Take a closer look at the beautiful colors of autumn. Brecksville Nature Center is located off Chippewa Creek Drive, off the Route 82 entrance of Brecksville Reservation in Brecksville.     Colors Of Fall Hike

    Sunday October 13 � 1 - 3 p.m.

    Hinckley Lake Boathouse & Store parking lot � Hinckley Reservation

    Enjoy the beautiful fall colors on this 3.5 mile hike around Hinckley Lake. Look for animals that live in and near the lake. Earn credit for a Walking Works program hike. Hinckley Lake Boathouse is located off West Drive in Hinckley Reservation, between Bellus and State roads in Hinckley Township.     Hiking For The Young At Heart

    Tuesday, October 15 � 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

    Brecksville Nature Center � Brecksville Reservation

    Adults can hike 3.5 miles along Chippewa Creek Gorge, through the woods and past fields to admire the beauty of the season. Brecksville Nature Center is located off Chippewa Creek Drive, off the Route 82 entrance of Brecksville Reservation in Brecksville.     Learn Your Leaves

    Saturday, October 19 � 10 - 11:15 a.m.

    Rocky River Nature Center � Rocky River Reservation

    Have fun with your child, ages 7 to 12, as you both become familiar with the differently shaped leaves in the forest. Take a half-mile hike, and then make a fun leaf identification book to take home. Register October 1- 17. Rocky River Nature Center is located at 24000 Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North Olmsted.     Photography Hike In Bedford

    Saturday, October 19 � 10 a.m. to noon

    Lost Meadows upper parking lot  area � Bedford Reservation

    Enjoy the beauty of nature through your eyes and capture it through your lens. Join a naturalist-guided photography hike through the woods of Bedford to capture the splendor of fall colors in all their glory. Lost Meadows Picnic Area is located off Gorge Parkway in Bedford Reservation, between Dunham and Egbert roads in Walton Hills.     Autumn Waterfall Bus Tour/Hike

    Sunday, October 20 � 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

    Garfield Park Nature Center � Garfield Park Reservation

    Join Foster Brown, Historical Interpreter/Naturalist, on a bus tour through Cleveland Metroparks visiting waterfalls and picturesque landscapes. Prepare for some hiking and steps. Sites include: Bridal Veil Falls, Mill Creek Falls, Great Falls of Tinkers Creek and Squaw Rock. Registration and a $30 fee (includes a box lunch) are required.     Fall Color Hike

    Sunday, October 20 � noon to 1:30 p.m.

    Snow Road Picnic Area � Big Creek Reservation

    Enjoy fall colors with a 2.5 mile hike along the Snow Road area of Big Creek Parkway. Meet by the picnic shelter closest to the parking lot.     Castle Hike

    Sunday, October 20 � 1:30 - 4 p.m.

    North Chagrin Nature Center � North Chagrin Reservation

    Trek the trails to what was once going to be a grand estate, Squire�s Castle! Enjoy scenic vistas that the Castle Valley, Squire�s Lane and Hemlock trails offer this time of year.  North Chagrin Nature Center is located off Buttermilk Falls Parkway, off the Sunset Lane entrance of North Chagrin Reservation, off SOM Center Road/Route 91 in Mayfield Village.     Little Tykes Leaf Hike

    Wednesday, October 23 � 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

    Garfield Park Nature Center � Garfield Park Reservation                                                                                            

    Children, ages 4 to 6, will enjoy a short hike and collect beautiful fall leaves along the way. Upon returning to the nature center, learn more about the leaves and turn them into beautiful leaf rubbings. Garfield Park Nature Center is located off Mill Creek Lane, off the Broadway Avenue entrance of Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights.
