Don't be a stranger, come meet the Rangers! Cleveland Metroparks Ranger Department is hosting a FREE Community Celebration on Sunday, October 6 from noon to 3 p.m. at Gordon Park in the Lakefront Reservation. It's the perfect opportunity to bring the family out to the park and learn more about the Rangers.
Did you know the Ranger Department is a full-fledged police force with a police fleet, mounted police, K-9 Unit, Dive Team and Detective Bureau? Come to the community celebration to meet the Rangers and some of the friends they work with every day.
On display will be police equipment the Rangers use to protect and serve all 18 Cleveland Metroparks Reservations and the Zoo. Some of the Park District's most popular programs will be set up, and a few public safety agencies the Rangers work with along the lakefront will be there too, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office and other police departments. There will be hands-on activities for everyone to learn from, play with, touch and see.
This event highlights the importance of establishing relationships with the citizens of Greater Cleveland and our community partners. Together we can be a part of making our great city's lakefront parks a destination for everyone to enjoy, said Interim Ranger Chief Dan Veloski.

On June 6, Cleveland Metroparks signed a historic long-term lease agreement with the City of Cleveland and the State of Ohio that transferred management of six lakefront parks to the Park District. Three of those parks, Edgewater Park, the East 55th Street Marina and Gordon Park, form the new Lakefront Reservation. Gordon Park is located at 8701 Lakeshore Blvd., in the Lakefront Reservation, north of I-90 near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit. Additional parking is available at the East 72nd Street boat launch with a shuttle to the event site.
