So your kids know how to navigate Facebook, YouTube and Google, but do they know how to bait a hook, tie a knot or change a tire on their bike?
Learn outdoor and recreational skills, enjoy adventure activities and more at the free, annual Cleveland Metroparks Outdoor Odyssey on Saturday, October 12 from noon to 4 p.m. along the Ohio & Erie Canal in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation in Cuyahoga Heights.
Outdoor Odyssey focuses on getting kids outside to explore and most importantly, to get active. Kids recieve a passport to record their discoveries. They travel to different stations to experience nature exploration, outdoor safety, and recreational activities like golf putting and chipping, stargazing, bird watching, fishing and more. Free live bait and loaner fishing equipment will be available while supplies last.
As children complete a station, they receive a stamp on their passport. When they complete at least five of the stations, they can redeem their passport for a prize!
A variety of nature and environmental organizations will also be on hand with activities and displays. Kids can meet live animals from Lake Erie Nature & Science Center, too!
Youth Outdoors, a division of Cleveland Metroparks, hosts the Outdoor Odyssey annually. Youth Outdoors, a partnership between Cleveland Metroparks, 4-H, the City of Cleveland, and The Ohio State University Extension.
