If you love nature and outdoor recreation why not share your passion, knowledge and skills with local, urban youth by becoming a Cleveland Metroparks Youth Outdoors volunteer. Interested adults are invited to learn more about this rewarding opportunity by attending a Youth Outdoors Volunteer Orientation on Wednesday, November 20 from 7 - 9 p.m. at CanalWay Center, off E. 49th Street in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation in Cuyahoga Heights.
Youth Outdoors is looking for adults to assist with a variety of outdoor recreation activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, cross country skiing, nature exploration and service projects. By connecting young people, ages 8 to 18, with the outdoors they will gain a life-long appreciation of nature. Youngsters will also learn valuable life skills such as decision making, communicating thoughts and feelings, making healthy lifestyle choices, and fulfilling responsibilities to others in their community.
Youth Outdoors is a partnership among Cleveland Metroparks, Ohio State University Extension, 4-H and the City of Cleveland.
Registration for the Youth Outdoors Volunteer Orientation is requested by Sunday, November 17. For more information and to register, call 216-206-1010 or yo@clevelandmetroparks.com.
