Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday to relax, share a meal with family and friends and have fun. A great way to have fun is to make memories together laughing off all that turkey and stuffing, while tobogganing at the Chalet Toboggan Chutes in Strongsville.

Cleveland Metroparks Chalet Toboggan Chutes officially open on Friday, November 29 with special holiday hours from noon to 10:30 p.m. The twin, refrigerated ice chutes are approximately 700 feet long with an initial vertical drop of 70 feet.  It's a fast, fun, heart-pumping ride.

And, best of all, you don't have to lift a finger. The Chalet toboggan lift will do the heavy lifting and carry each 40-pound toboggan to the top of the hill. Cleveland Metroparks Chalet staff will load and unload the toboggan lift, while you simply walk up the steps to the top of the chutes, where the toboggans will be waiting for the ride back down.

This season's public tobogganing hours are:

     Thursdays:  6 - 10 p.m. (in January, February and March 2014)

     Fridays: 6 - 10:30 p.m.

     Saturdays:  noon to 10:30 p.m.

     Sundays: noon to 5 p.m.

Holidays: visit clevelandmetroparks.com or call for holiday hours (December 20 through January 4, January 20 and February 17, 2014)

The daily admission fee is only $10 for adults, and $8 for children, ages 11 and younger, which includes unlimited use of toboggans for the day.  One-time ride tickets are also available for $4.

Season Passes: You can ride the toboggans all season long.  Take advantage of unlimited rides, all season long. Season passes are available at $40 for adults, $30 for children ages 11 and younger, and only $110 for a family (up to four people).  And, when you purchase your season pass by December 24, receive a discount and a free gift pack. Individual season passes come with one Cleveland Metroparks drawstring bag, a pair of gloves and an ice scraper. Family season passes come with one Cleveland Metroparks drawstring bag, four pairs of gloves and four ice scrapers. Gift packs must be picked up at the Chalet.

Group Discounts: Group discount rates, for 20 or more people, are available for rides during public hours.  Groups must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.  Group rates are not valid for season pass holders.

The Chalet Recreation Area, including the use of the toboggan chutes, can also be rented for exclusive use during non-public hours.

The Chalet Recreation Area is located at 16200 Valley Parkway in Mill Stream Run Reservation, between Routes 42 and 82 in Strongsville - just a short distance from I-71 and the Ohio Turnpike.
