On average, Americans consume an extra 1,600 calories on Thanksgiving. Work off that turkey dinner and the extra helping of pumpkin pie at the new Acacia 5K Run on Saturday, November 30 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. in Acacia Reservation.
The Acacia 5K Run is a race that encourages you to not only get out and get active, but to explore Acacia Reservation, a scenic, greenspace oasis located in a busy commercial district in Lyndhurst. The 5K will take place on a paved surface loop around Acacia.
Pre-registration is open until Friday, November 6 for $30. After November 6, late or day of registration is $35. Pre-registration packet pickup will be Wednesday, November 20 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Acacia Reservation. On race day, packet pickup is at 9 a.m. with the race starting at 10 a.m.
Handcrafted medals will be given to the first and second place finishers for men and women in categories by age. And, if you want to be environmentally conscious as well as health conscious, carpoolers are eligible for a special raffle with a chance to win great prizes.
Participants will get a free T-shirt, while supplies last, and a healthy, hot meal courtesy of Dino's Catering.
This race is for children ages 14 and older and adults. Registration and liability waiver are required to participate in the race.
