When the snow starts to fly this December, don't hibernate. Bundle up and enjoy a sleighful of winter family fun in Cleveland Metroparks! Choose from five different programs that feature an outdoor group activity centered around snow. All programs are free and best of all they don't require an Internet connection!

    Snow Paint

    Sunday, December 15 1 - 2:30 p.m.

CanalWay Center   Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Snow paints the landscape white during the winter months. It's pretty, but why not add a splash of color to the scenery? Come and paint the park red or blue or green. Use your imagination to create a snow sculpture then paint it using food coloring spray bottles. Registration begins December 2.

    Tracks In The Snow

    Sunday, December 29 2 - 3:30 p.m.

CanalWay Center   Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Did you ever see tracks in the snow and wonder who made them? Was it a raccoon? Wild turkey? White tailed deer? Take a short hike while looking for tracks in the snow and learn to identify who made them.

CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights. For registration and more information, call 216-206-1000 or visit clevelandmetroparks.com.

    Sledding In The Park

    Saturday, December 21 1 - 2:30 p.m.

Old River Farm Picnic Area North Chagrin Reservation

Come celebrate the official first day of winter. Bundle up, grab a sled and meet at the Old River Farm Picnic Area for an afternoon of sledding. Afterward, warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. Rocky River Nature Center Rocky River Reservation

Living in the Arctic regions of Canada, Greenland and Alaska, the Inuit have many names for different types of snow. Take a hike and go on a snow search to find anniu, api, quali and more. Afterward, have fun making a quinzhee or snow shelter. Rocky River Nature Center is located at 24000 Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, north of Cedar Point Road in North Olmsted.
