Summer is a beautiful time of the year and a great inspiration for artists everywhere. Whether working outdoors or indoors, nature can be a muse for creating beautiful art.
Cleveland Metroparks invites everyone to explore creative ways to engage with nature through these exhibits and programs in June:
Art Display: A Battle in our Backyards - Native and Invasive Species in Northeast Ohio
Now through Sunday, June 30 � 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., daily
CanalWay Center � Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation
This exhibit features two series of sustainable art by Emily Bryant. The first series is a collection of invasive insect collages made of pressed invasive plant species found in Northeast Ohio. The second series features ethereal photographic collages of native species printed on sustainable bamboo paper. On display through June 30. CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights. Gallery Wall: Ohio's Birds

Rocky River Nature Center � Rocky River Reservation
View portraits of Ohio's birds as captured by photographer and bird bander Craig Fritz. Fritz photographs birds on location, but also captures and releases birds for banding, providing an exceptional opportunity to photograph them at close range. On exhibit through June 29. Drawing Big Bugs and Blooms

Spend a morning in search of early summer insects and the flowers they visit, and capture them by net and on paper. Bring art supplies and a portable seat. Plein Air Painting at the Lodge

�Plein Air� painting is the French art of painting outdoors or �in open air.� Paint a landscape outside, in the fresh summer air. Bring painting supplies and snack for an afternoon with natural inspiration. Some watercolor supplies available to borrow. This program is for ages 12 and older.
