At one time, most of Garfield Park Reservation was farm land and it will be again at Cleveland Metroparks �Farm & Garden Day� on Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Located at Garfield Park Nature Center in Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Hts, �Farm & Garden Day� is a free event featuring live farms animals, including hens and roosters, turkeys, ducks, sheep, geese and goslings, goats and kids and calves.
Visitors can sample hand-churned butter and homemade popcorn at the tasting-stations, participate in the egg and sack races, enjoy children's hands-on crafts and activities, photo opportunities, and horse-drawn wagon rides for $2 per person.
Event-goers can meet with local vendors and exhibitors, including Amish Home Craft & Bakery, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Cleveland Clinic, Garfield Heights Historical Society, Green Triangle Permaculture Design, Spring Mist Farms and more.
Presentations include: Beginning Beekeeping at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Container Vegetable Gardening at 1 and 3:15 p.m. Gardeners can also visit the heirloom plant sale.
Refreshments will be available for purchase.
Garfield Park Nature Center is located off the Broadway Avenue entrance of Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights - north of the I-480/Broadway Avenue exit.
