        It's warming up outside, so why not feel the summer breeze while riding through Cleveland Metroparks.


        Cleveland Metroparks invites you to enjoy the scenic views of the �Emerald Necklace� on a bike ride led by experienced staff members and volunteers:


    Bike the Canal

    Thursday, June 13 � 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

    Bacci Park parking lot � Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

    Take a bike ride with Cleveland Metroparks staff members Doug Kusak and Jill Hauger along the Ohio & Erie Canal. Meet at Bacci Park and ride to Harvard Road and back, while discussing the local nature and history of the area. Helmets are required. Registrations, beginning June 3, is required. Limited bike rentals available; call for details. Cuyahoga Heights Bacci Park is located off Canal Road, adjacent to Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between E. 71 Street and Warner Road in Cuyahoga Heights. To register, visit clevelandmetroparks.com.     Women Only Ride with Ice Cream

    Sunday, June 16 � 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

    CanalWay Center � Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

    Ladies, take a leisurely bike ride from CanalWay Center to Harvard Road and back. Enjoy a delicious ice cream cone upon your return. Helmets required. This program is for ages 12 and older (under 16 with an adult). Registration, beginning June 3, and a $3 fee are required. Limited bike rentals available; inquire when registering. CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights.     Bike
    - Train - Bike!

    Sunday, June 23 � 8:30 a.m.

    Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Rockside Road Station

    Cultural Interpreter Doug Kusak leads a history adventure on a bicycle and an �iron horse.� Starting at Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Rockside Road Station, ride the rails to Peninsula and then hop on the bikes and pedal back to Rockside Road Station. Helmets are required. This program is for adults and ages 15 and older with an adult. Registration, beginning June 3, and a $5 fee (includes train fare) are required. Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Station is located at 7900 Old Rockside Rd. in Independence. To register, visit clevelandmetroparks.com. For more information, call 216-206-1000.



    Tour de Emerald Necklace

    Saturday, June 29 � 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

    Scenic Park parking lot � Rocky River Reservation

    Join the first part of this tour around the �Emerald Necklace.� While promoting health and wellness in both body and mind, there will be stops at points of interest to discuss cultural and natural history. This is a 30-mile ride. Registration is required. Scenic Park is located off Valley Parkway, off the Detroit Road entrance of Rocky River Reservation in Lakewood.         And, if you are looking for a place to ride, but lacking a bike, rent a bicycle at CanalWay Center in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation and take a leisurely ride on the Towpath Trail! Rentals are available daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rental includes a helmet, so riders can make their way up or down the Towpath Trail safely, and a lock, if riders want to stop along the way to explore. A toddler trailer and mountain bikes are also available. For more information, call 216-206-1000.
