Trains capture the hearts of children and adults alike.
Join Cleveland Metroparks for the annual, free Train Day event on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CanalWay Center in Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation in Cuyahoga Heights, just below the massive, 2,000-foot long bridge that carries more than 40 trains a day across the valley.
Come and see model trains of various scales and meet train clubs and organizers. Take a guided walk and find out what is in the train cars rumbling overhead and follow the hobo signs on the self-guided hobo trail.
Event-goers can say hello to Conrad the Conductor as he welcomes everyone along the stroll down the Hobo Trail to discover what life was like for America's traveling workers.
Children can also enjoy music by Foster Brown at noon and 2 p.m., train-themed puppet shows at 11 a.m.,1 and 3 p.m., crafts and face painting.
Plus, enjoy a kid's trackless train or pedal car rides ($2/person or 2 for $3), the Nature Shop selling unique train items, and refreshments for sale.
CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights - just off the I-77/Grant Avenue exit.
