The month of May is a great time to discover the great outdoors. Explore the woods and water of West Creek Reservation with three, free programs that include a river cleanup, an off-trail expedition and an eye-opening bioblitz.

The West Creek Reservation programs in May are:

    Storm Surge Clean Up

    Saturday, May 18 9 a.m. - noon

Be prepared to get a little dirty and wet. But, it's all for a good cause. Be a part of RiverDay and help remove and recycle floatables from West Creek floodplains. Groups are encouraged to register in advance. For registration and more information, call 440-887-1968 or visit clevelandmetroparks.com.

    Crayfish, Salamanders and Chubs

    Sunday, May 19 1 - 3 p.m.

Join Naturalist Jen Brumfield on a 1.5-mile, off-trail expedition to find and identify small fish, crustaceans, amphibians and reptiles that call West Creek Reservation home. Bring boots and wear clothes that can get wet. Small nets provided.

    Bioblitz

    Sunday, May 26 1 - 2:30 p.m.

Join Naturalist Jen Brumfield on a fast and fun bioblitz. Take a 2-mile hike on- and off-trail and keep track of all the living things discovered from animals to plants to mushrooms and more. Find out if the list reaches 200 species found on this eye-opening adventure.

All three programs meet at the Watershed Stewardship Center parking lot in West Creek Reservation. West Creek Reservation's main entrance is located off West Ridgewood Drive, between State and Broadview roads in Parma.

For more information, visit clevelandmetroparks.com or call 440-887-1968.
