For anyone ready to take their first steps towards making a difference for the environment using their personal green space, Cleveland Metroparks offers a practical series, Your Piece of the Planet on May 12, 26 and 27 at Rocky River Nature Center in Rocky River Reservation.
These free programs take the mystery out of improving backyard habitats by teaching participants to evaluate their backyard, and show how to create a sustainable environment.
Cleveland Metroparks invites gardening enthusiasts to learn the benefits of sustainable gardening through the following Your Piece of the Planet programs:
Your Piece of the Planet: Monarch Waystations
Sunday, May 12 � 11 a.m. - noon

Learn how to beautify your yard while attracting those miracles of migration, monarch butterflies. The best part? Most of the native plants in this garden are unpalatable to deer.
Your Piece of the Planet: Rain Gardens

Do you have a wet, mucky area in your yard? Turn that mud pit into a functional, beautiful rain garden. Learn how to get started with the right design and plants that don't mind getting their �feet� wet.

Have a gardening question? Drop by the nature center gardens anytime this afternoon and chat with a naturalist about how native plants can transform a boring yard into a beautiful, functional wildlife habitat! Reference books and handouts will be available for use.
