Make this summer one for your kids to remember and sign them up for the wildest camp in town, Summer Day Camp at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo!
The Zoo's Summer Day Camp runs from June 17 through August 16, and is an ideal way for young people ages 5-14 to spend their summer. Campers participate in fun and educational activities, and learn about wildlife and the environment with experienced camp counselors. Campers are grouped according to age to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment.
Several different camp sessions are offered for each age group, so kids can sign up for one or all of the weeklong sessions. Each camp is filled with opportunities to see Zoo animals and exhibits up close.
Camp sessions for kids ages 5-10 cover a variety of animal and environmental themes including the Five Senses, Shapes and Sizes, Habitats, Animal Defenses, Adaptations and Sustainability.
For 11- and 12-year-olds, Summer Day Camp provides more science-based activities to keep campers engaged, including observing and recording animal behavior at the Zoo and in the nearby Brookside Reservation.
Counselor-in-training camp allows young teens ages 13-14 to develop their leadership skills by working alongside the Zoo's Day Camp staff, partnering with the Zoo Crew teen volunteers and participating in team building activities.
Young people age 11-14 can also choose a brand new option for 2013 -- Emerald Necklace Camp -- a day camp sampler of the entire Cleveland Metroparks. Campers explore the Zoo and take field trips to other areas of the Park District to hike, canoe, learn the basics of golf and more.
Summer Day Camp registration opens Friday, March 15. Space is limited, so sign up early to avoid being shut out! Registration is available online at clemetzoo.com or by calling 216-635-3391.
