Cleveland Metroparks Aquatics Division is offering two American Red Cross courses in April: Lifeguard Re-Certification and Lifeguard Management. These two courses provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to keep patrons safe this summer.
The courses are:
American Red Cross Lifeguard Re-Certification
Sunday, April 7 � 1 - 4 p.m.
Lakewood High School pool � Lakewood
This course is for lifeguards currently certified in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid and/or CPR/AED for the professional rescuer and need to update their skills to maintain certification. Certification is valid for two years. Participants will take a written exam and rescue skills evaluated. Registration by April 4 and an $80 fee (includes materials) are required. American Red Cross Lifeguard Management
Sunday, April 21 � 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Cleveland Metroparks Park Operations Administration Office � Rocky River Reservation
Learn to effectively manage lifeguards and create a safe environment for patrons and lifeguards. The course covers responsibilities of a lifeguard supervisor, selection and training of lifeguards, team building, injury prevention, risk management, and emergency response planning. Registration by April 18 and a $60 fee (includes materials) are required. Cleveland Metroparks Park Operations offices are located at 4500Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, just off Wooster Road hill, across from Big Met Golf Course in Fairview Park.
