Are you the best female amateur golfer in Greater Cleveland? Then, Cleveland Metroparks wants you to test your skills against other female linksters and compete in the 10th annual �Women's Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship� event on Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4 at Shawnee Hills Golf Course in Bedford.
Last year, Amy Sulieman of Middleburg Heights shot rounds of 72-68 (142 total) to capture the title at the Women's Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship held at Shawnee Hills. Sulieman's 4 under total bested Tegan Skirptas of Medina who shot rounds of 70-75 to finish second at 145.
Three Ashland University players, Holly James (Strongsville), Abby Tepe (Liberty Township) and Madison Musick (Fairborn) finished tied for 3rd at 151.
The two-day, 36-hole stroke play event is contested at scratch and is open to any female amateur golfer of any age or residence. It is recommended that participants have a current handicap index of 18.4 or less to reasonably compete. USGA rules apply for all play.
The event tees off both days at approximately 8 a.m.
All players compete for the Women's Greater Cleveland Amateur Championship title and trophy. The top finishers receive merchandise certificate prizes.
A $75 entry fee and advanced registration are required. Greens fees are part of the entry fee. Carts are optional and not included in the fee, but can be rented the day of the tournament.
Caddies and spectators are welcome.
Registration is required by Sunday, July 28. Space is limited.
