    Cleveland Metroparks invites everyone to enjoy the winged majesty of birds of prey at Rocky River Nature Center.



    During the weekend of February 2 & 3, learn more about these feathered friends through a number of free programs, including:


    Saturday, February 2:

    The Ancient Art of Falconry � 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

    Using raptors to hunt is called falconry. Join licensed falconers Jeff Riebe, Don Jessie and Al Harris to meet their birds and learn about this ancient sport.


    Hunters of the Air Puppet Show � 1:30 - 2 p.m.

    The Trailside Puppeteers present a fun and educational puppet show on the winged hunters of the air.



    Hawks: Sun-Loving Killers  � 2 - 3 p.m.

    Join Dave Wolf from Lake Erie Nature and Science Center for a closer look at the lives of hawks in Northeast Ohio.


    Owls: Hunters of the Night � 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

    Get a closer look at owls in Northeast Ohio: see them live with Dave Wolf from the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center.



    Sunday, February 3:

    Birds of Prey Hike � noon - 1 p.m.

    Join a naturalist for a hike in raptor country. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons, red-tailed hawks and other daytime raptors have been nestling in the Rocky River Valley. Bring binoculars and try to spot one of these elegant hunters.



    Hunters of the Air Puppet Show � 1:30 - 2 p.m.

    The Trailside Puppeteers present a fun and educational puppet show on the winged hunters of the air.


    Birds of Prey 101 � 2 - 3 p.m.

    What are the differences between hawks, owls, falcons and eagles? The Medina Raptor Center has lots of live examples of these fascinating predators. Learn what makes a raptor, a raptor.


    Raptor Rehab � 3 - 4 p.m.

    Laura Jordan, from the Medina Raptor Center, will use live birds to demonstrate what it takes to get an injured raptor back on its wings.
